The movie about Sergey Paradzhanov will open the 20th Festival
Biographical drama "Paradzhanov" (directed by Serge Avedikian and Olena Fetisova), nominated for "Oscar 2014" from Ukraine, will be the opening film of the 20th Minsk international film festival "Listapad" (1-8 November 2013). .
The world premiere of the film took place in summer 2013 as part of the official program of the 48th film festival in Karlovy Vary (Czech Republic). The movie won the prize "Golden Duke" at the Odessa International Film Festival, as the Best Ukrainian feature film (2013).
The film "Paradzhanov" is a co-project of cinematographers of Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia and France. The life of Sergey Paradzhanov was closely connected with these countries. And it is especially pleasant that such film about the great director of the former Soviet Union, whose movies are recognized as the world masterpiece, will open the festival. This is the main concept of MIFF "Listapad" - to acquaint the Belarusian audience with the best movies, created in the states of former Soviet Union.

Sergei Paradzhanov is known for his imagery in movies, full of symbols and metaphors. He is the author of films that have become classics of world cinema, "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" (1964), "The Color of Pomegranates" (1969), "The Legend of the Suram Fortress" (1984), "Ashik-Kerib" (1988), etc.
Main roles in biographical film are played by Serge Avedikian, French actor of Armenian origin, winner of the "Palme d'Or" at the Cannes Film Festival for Best Short Film (animated film "Dog stories", 2010), and a friend of Paradzhanov, and Russian actress Julia Peresild, who starred in films of Alexei Uchitel, Cyril Serebryannikova, Sergei Loznitsa.
The film "Paradzhanov" will be shown at the end of the opening ceremony of the 20th MIFF "Listapad" simultaneously on two screens: in the small hall of the Palace of the Republic and in the cinema "Centralny".
