Tamhane’s “Court” was declared the best feature film in India
Today the Directorate of Film Festivals announced a list of films that will receive awards during the 62nd National Film Awards Presentation Ceremony on May 3, 2015. Traditionally the Medallions and cash prizes will be given to the winners by the President of India.
Chaitanya Tamhane’s «Court», the winner of the Award for Best Film in «Youth on the March» Competition of the 21st MIFF “Listapad”, was declared India’s best feature film of 2014. The Jury noted a «“powerful and stark depiction of the mundaneness of judicial procedure” that is “forcing us to reflect on the heart-wrenching insensitivity of institutional structures».
National Film Awards were first presented in 1954 and are, together with FilmfareAwards, the most prominent cinema awards in India.
