Icelandic actor Ingvar Eggert Sigurdsson will join the "Youth on the March" Competition jury of the 22nd MIFF "Listapad"
One of the most famous Icelandic actors, European Film Academy award winner Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson, who's been a part of the "Everest" crew, will join the jury of the "Youth on the March" Feature Film Competition of the 22nd Minsk International Film "Listapad".
Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson was born on November 22, 1963 in Reykjavík. The Belarusian audience knows him primarily thanks to his roles in "K-19" (2002), "Beowulf & Grendel" (2005), as well as Friðrik Þór Friðriksson's projects, such as "Devil's Island" (1996), "Angels of the Universe" (2000) and "Falcons" (2002), and, of course, the films "Of Horses and Men" (2013) and Baltasar Kormákur's "Everest" (2015) that has recently hit the cinemas all over the world. In "Everest" he played the Russian climber Anatoli Boukreev, who saved three members of the expedition risking his own life.

Sigurðsson works both in Iceland and abroad. More than once he's received the Edda award as the Best Actor, was nominated for the European Academy Award and received EFA People's Choice Award. The latest film starring Sigurðsson – "Sparrows" – will be shown in Minsk in the Out of Competition program of the 22nd MIFF "Listapad". This film was awarded the Golden Shell Award for Best Film of the San Sebastián Film Festival that announced the results on September 26.
The actor ofthen plays the parts of Russians, and he hinself admits that he likes Russian culture. In the National Theatre of Iceland he participated in the staging of Checkov's "Cherry Orchard" by a Lithuanian director Rimas Tuminas. In "Everest" he even sings an Alexander Rosenbaum's song in Russian.
Peter Shepotinnik, a Russian film critic, and Cristina Velasco, a producer from Mexico, will also join the jury of the "Youth on the March" Feature Film Competition. Cristina Velasco co-produced the film "Norteado" that won the main award of the "Youth on the March" competition in 2011. This year she was one of the producers of Peter Greenaway's new film "Eisenstein in Guanajuato".
The "Youth on the March" Feature Film Competition includes debut and second feature-length films by directors from all over the world, who've shown extraordinary skill and a huge potential.
