Love as Italians – the best Italian shorts about love will be shown in Minsk
On February 14, the Valentine's Day, the Falcon Club Cinema Boutique starts the screenings of the “ITALIAN BEST SHORTS 2: Love in the eternal city” – an anthology of the best Italian short films about love. Minskers have already seen the first part of this almanac in summer – within the framework of the Open Air Cinema project, and now, in the second part, viewers are given the opportunity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Italian love and endless holiday. The screenings at the Falcon Club Cinema Boutique will be held from 14 to 28 February, at the “Pioneer” cinema the collection will be shown on the eve of the main women's day – from 1 to 7 March.
Almanac “ITALIAN BEST SHORTS 2: Love in the eternal city”, consists of seven brightest Italian short melodramas and comedies, winners of various Italian film festivals, – it’s a declaration of love for the beauty of human relations with the world, with oneself, with each other.
“A bite-size boy” (“Pollicino”) by Cristiano Anania – touching and allegorical story about a man for whom there is only a moment of “here and now”. The film was selected for more than 120 Italian and international film festivals.
“I start new life tomorrow” (“Domani Smetto”) by Monica Dugo and Marcello Di Noto – a satirical comedy about all of us, about how dependence on gadgets can replace a simple and such an important human communication.
“The appointment” (L'appuntamento) by Ylenia Politano – an ingenious reflection on how often we do not say out loud what we really feel, and how it affects our relationships.
The main short story of the almanac – “It's a wonderful life” (Finché c'è vita c'è speranza) by Valerio Attanasio, the screenwriter of the comic hit “I Can Quit Whenever I Want” (the one Minsk citizens saw in the “Listapad. Collection” last July). This film is a romantic walk through Rome which make lovers, who dream of marriage, test the strength of their relationship through several challenging situations. The film took part in more than 20 Italian and international film festivals, was named the best short film of the year at such film festivals as Giffoni Film Festival, Video Festival Imperia and won the audience award at the NewMovieClub Film Festival Palestrina.
In the little hero of the short film “Rocky” by Daniele Pini every spectator will be able to recognize himself - this is a touching story of an imaginary friendship and the first real love.
The short comedy melodrama “Whirlwind” (“Da cosa nasce cosa”) by Francesco Bruni is about the young girl who came to the job interview, but instead of the work she found something more important. For the first time the audience will see the film shot by the Roman experimental film center “Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia di Roma”, which was not even shown in Italy. ITALIAN BEST SHORTS 2 almanac will be the world premiere for this film.
The almanac will be crowned by melodrama “The most beautiful” (“Bellissima”) by Alessandro Capitani, which won the “Italian Oscar” last year (the David di Donatello Award) as the best short film. Having quarreled with a boyfriend, Veronica locks herself in a club toilet, and even a friend cannot get her out of there. A guy from the next stall starts talking to her after having heard her crying. Veronica’s voice makes him fall in love, but is he ready to see her..? The brightest rising star of Italian cinema Giusy Lodi played a small story of great love that will not leave anyone indifferent.
