Lucia and Maria have been friends since school years. They are so different that can’t get along without each other. Lucia is goody-goody and strict, Maria is vivid and positive. It’s the same in relationships with men: Lucia has given her private life up as a hopeless case after unsuccessful marriage, but Mary is ready to let every man in her bed. Everything is changing when 19-year-old Luka suddenly appears in their lives.

A new comedy by a director, screenwriter and writer Cristina Comencini (“La bestia nel cuore”, “Latin Lover”, “I divertimenti della vita privata”, etc.), who is a daughter of Luigi Comencini, the classicist of world cinematography and the master of Italian comedy, provides us with a fresh look on eternal topic of girl friendship and rivalry in love. Comencini answers these sensitive issues, which every woman faces in relationships, with humour and awareness and answers to which should be known by men.

“Qualcosa di nuovo” got special prize for best women’s roles at the ICFF Italian Contemporary Film Festival, was nominated for “Best actress” and “Best comedy of the year” at the Premio Kineo “Diamanti al Cinema Italiano”, nominated for visual solution and music at the Premio “La Pelicola d’Oro”, took part in 13 Italian and European film festivals.

Italian media wrote cordial reviews on a new film by Cristina Comencini: “Brilliant description of friendship between women!” To watch this film is like to speak with your best friend” (; “Dialogs touch very deeply. You can hear yourselves in the words of main heroes” (; “Qualcosa di nuovo” is a real handbook on relationships, love lesson. The plot intrigues, featured actors are amazing and Comencini skillfully balances between light humour and emotional tension” (La Stampa).
