Mari Okada is the “Queen of Drama” and one of the most famous and titled screenwriters in the industry of anime. Among her works there are both brilliant anime-adaptations of various projects (“True Tears”, “Toradora!” “Black Butler”) and entirely original scripts (“A Lull in the Sea”, “Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day”, “The Anthem of the Heart”). The film “Let's Decorate the Promised Flowers in the Farewell Morning” is her director debut and right after its release at the end of February 2018 in Japan gained many rave reviews from the audience.
Japanese director Makoto Shinkai (“Your name”), who attended the first screening, writes in his microblog, “As a screenwriter, Mari Okada brings something new into anime. As a director, she managed to reach such a high level of quality, which I can only be envious of”.
