The Premier of the Belarus Film Crystal Swan Takes Place on August 29

The dramatic comedy Crystal Swan, which has already become a hit of international film festivals and received positive reviews from the foreign press, goes on general Minsk release. August 29 at the Moscow cinema a premiere of the debut full-length film by Darya Zhuk will take place. Tickets are available on the ByCard website and at the cinema box offices.

The film is set in the 90’s in Belarus. Due to a typo in the fake questionnaire for an American visa, a young girl, DJ appears in the factory town of Khrustalny. There she is going to achieve at all costs the fulfilment of her "American dream".

"The plot of Crystal Swan unfolds in the mid-90’s since this is a time that I know well from personal experience. My protagonist Velya is a DJ, dreaming to go to Chicago to visit the birthplace of house music. We meet her in one of these lines at the embassy. She is young and full of illusions, she still feels like the centre of her own world. She is an archetype of an American who is stuck in the post-Soviet mess. The freedom that she seeks is not available, and in the reality that she lives in, individualism wins seldom. Every step of her adventure constantly challenges her beliefs and approach to life", tells the director about the film.

At the premiere in Belarus, the film will be presented by its director Darya Zhuk, the actors and the participants of the film crew. After the show in Moscow, the creators will answer questions from the audience.

The world premiere took place in June this year at the prestigious International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, where the picture opened the East of the West Competition. In July, Crystal Swan received the Grand Prix at the International Film Festival in Odessa. In addition, the film is invited to more than 20 film festivals around the world. Positive feedback on the picture was written by Hollywood Reporter, Screen International, Variety, Kommersant and many others.

Early film screening with the film's director will take place on August 27 at the Falcon Club Cinema Boutique. From August 30th the film will be screened at Aurora, Pioneer, Belarus, Mir, Raketa, Kiev, Falcon Club Cinema Boutique, Silver Screen and ArtKinoteatr.

The film’s release is carried out by the Center for Visual and Performing Arts ART Corporation within the project Listapad. Collection. The release general partner in Belarus is EPAM Systems.
