The slogan of the 25th Minsk International Film Festival is “Getting to Know the Big, Wide World” with dedication to Kira Muratova

New “Listapad” is a new slogan and a visual representation. If last year we were looking for “The Truth, The God and The Beauty” with reference to the iconic film by an Indian director Raj Kapoor, this time we are “Getting to Know the Big, Wide World”.

Slogan of the 25th – anniversary – “Listapad” is homage to Kira Muratova, one of the favorite authors of the Film Festival, and her motion picture of the same title. “Listapad” would like to base on this cinematography in particular, which speaks about the intimate in the language of high art, when forming its programs. “Passions”, “Chekhov's Motifs”, “The Tuner”, “Melody for a Street-organ” – films by Kira Muratova accompany the whole 25-year history of the Minsk IFF. Moreover, during the last years the director refused to go to many festivals, but Minsk became a happy exception – here she presented her “Eternal Redemption” in 2013.

Getting to Know the Big, Wide World’ is one of those films of the Soviet Era, which doesn’t age, but on the contrary, year by year influences more and more. Kira Muratova’s cinematography is novation, currency, and everlasting topics. We treat Kira Georgievna and her attention to us reverently, – says Igor Sukmanov. – At the same time, we want to invite “Getting to Know the Big, Wide World’ literally, because cinematography is not only a fascinating story. By plunging into completely different contexts, cultures, storylines we get to know the world and ourselves as well”.

The slogan “Getting to Know the Big, Wide World” together with the new visual concept gives a clue on how to watch films on “Listapad”. Film posters under the thickness of layers on the festival poster symbolize the collection of films collected through 25 years and an in-depth approach to the art of cinema: it takes engaging all the background to elicit the main idea and to figure out the truth.
