25 films in three days: a report on National Film School Competition

On the 25th "Listapad" National Film School Competition gathers together the record number of participants. This year the Youth documentary film competition includes 25 student works from 12 european film schools. All the screenings will be shown at Small Hall of "Pioner" cinema theater from the 3rd of November till the 5th of November.


National Film School Competition, which was organized for helping students and young film directors orientate themselves in the international area of documentary cinema, continues spread world-wide and introduce experimental films to the audience The Program gives an opportunity to establish professional contacts and discuss not only what was done, but also the future projects of the participants.

All the cinema sessions, this year they will be hold in "Pioner" movie theater, include school presentations, views of films and discussions with the authors. Not for the first time the audience will become acquainted with the student works of the oldest European Film Schools: Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU), Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź, The Mobile Film School "DOCNOMADS". There are also belarusians among the students of "DOCNOMADS": belarussian-belgic film "White sheet of paper" by Alexander Mihalkovich was shown at MIFF in 2016.

By traditions National Film School Competiton will be opened with a "host’s" movie – the film "A day from the life of Ales' and Alesya" by Alena Buyakova, a student of Sergey Shulga BSAA workshop, will be shown on the 3rd of November.

Apart from the participants from Prague and Lodz, students from cinema schools of Moscow, Madrid, Cologne, Yerevan, Brussels, Bishkek and Kiev will visit Minsk this weekend. As noted by the documentary films program director Irina Demyanova, the key-feature of the Festival is that all the participants will visit Minsk not only for their own presentations, but also for all three days of the Festival. They will have enough time to get acquainted, discuss the works and share experience.
