The virtual reality day at “Listapad”

The virtual reality day will take place at the Industrial platform of the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad for the third time. This year the experts from Germany, Russia and Belarus will explain how to use the virtual reality effectively in cinema, animation and storytelling. You can become a part of the VR world in the “Art-Belarus” galleria on the 4th of November.

The Industrial platform held the virtual reality day for the first time as a part of the 23th MIFF. The goal was to attach Belarusian viewers to the “art of virtualization”, to introduce them to the world via modern technologies. The viewers were able to participate in lots of diverse events: from digital installation creation to direct contact with the virtual reality objects.

Today the virtual reality section is an integral part for the biggest class A film festivals. The rising demand for content with immersive effect inspires directors, producers, animators and artists to look for methods and techniques to work with the new media. Keeping a close eye on these tendencies, the Industrial platform of the “Listapad” film festival decided to continue developing this theme as a path of the Bel:Cinema, with the help of the immersive solutions studio “Feeling Digital”.

The events of the virtual reality day were attended by more then 500 people last year. This year the main focus will be on the master classes by international experts. Among these experts are: illustrator and digital artist Tobias Wüstefeld (Hamburg), director and producer for VR and 360 films Georgiy Molodtsov (Moscow), cofounder of the Tvori project Viktor Komarovskikh (Saint Petersburg) and the creators of the VIR Gallery - Mitriy Sorkin and Pavel Lukashevich (Minsk).

Projects from Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania and Belarus will be shown in the demonstration area that will be open from 10 AM to 8 PM in the “Art-Belarus” gallery. Included is the 2018 goEast (Wiesbaden, Germany) “Open Frame Award” winner “Nominal Empire”. The participants will also be able to visit the “EXIT IN” exhibition by the artist Vera Sudilovskaya. Parts of this exhibition were created using VR technologies.

The virtual reality day will take place at the “Art-Belarus” gallery, 3 Kozlova str. Preliminary registered tickets cost 25 BYN. Additional tickets will cost 35 BYN at the “Art-Belarus” ticket offices if there are any seats available.

The virtual reality day is only a part of the three-day VR laboratory of films and animations. The program will continue on 5th and 6th of November on the “Belarusfilm” National Cinema Studio set.
