1998 year, Nalchik. Ilana, a young girl from a good family, has a rebellious streak to her. She talks back to her mother. She argues with her father. She is always wearing her overalls and is rarely seen out of her father’s garage. She is dating a guy her parents don’t approve of. A tomboy and a beauty, she follows her own way and craves for freedom, but when a terrible tragedy happens, she is the only one able to save the family. But at what cost?

Kantemir Balagov

Born in Nalchik on July 28, 1991.
In 2015 completed his studies at the A. N. Sokurov Director’s Studio at the KabardinoBalkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov.
Worked as a director-trainee at the shooting of the fim EASTER directed by Igor Olshansky (production of An Example of intonation Foundation, 2014). CLOSENESS is his debut fulllength project.
