One day, a woman receives the parcel she sent to her incarcerated husband some time earlier. Confused and deeply concerned, she decides to go to the  prison in a remote area of Russia, to seek information. So begins the story of a journey rife with humiliations and violence, the story of an absurd battle against an impenetrable fortress.

Sergei Loznitsa

Award-winning Ukrainian filmmaker. Born in Belarus in 1964. In 1987 graduated from the Kiev Polytechnic. In 1987–1991 worked at the Kiev Institute of Cybernetics specializing in artificial intelligence research. In 1997 graduated from the Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), where he studied feature filmmaking. In 2013 founded a film production company ATOMS & VOID. Works both in documentary and feature genres (MY JOY (2010), IN THE FOG (2012), MAIDAN (2014), AUSTERLITZ (2016) and others).
