Petras, a poor artist living in Vilnius, gets an offer from his childhood friend Povilas to help with the renovation of old sanatorium. They both move to the beautiful countryside surrounded by lakes. But dramatic conflicts are lurking behind this almost too idyllic façade. The plot develops the subjects of family life, love, life and death, justice and betrayal. The script focuses on the men, the two artists and confronts them with creative and moral problems.
