The 10th international film festival Listapadik 2008 for children and teenagers.
This autumn the international film festival for children and teenagers is celebrating its 10 years anniversary. Everyone who is going to visit Listapadik 2008 will be endowed with vivid impressions and will be back home in high spirits.
Listapadik was founded in 1998 as children's film festival including only Ex-Soviet Union films. Over the years it has become an international film festival. It has become a part of republic's cultural life. Nowadays it gives opportunity for our young audience to watch the best films from all over the world. Moreover, Listapadik helps to establish cultural relations with the neighbouring and foreign countries.
On the great festive occasion there will be actors and actresses from new feature films and animations. Film experts and amateurs of films for children will meet in Minsk — the capital of Belarus — from 14th of November till 21st of November.
Many cultural events are to take place during the festival week. Among them are film viewings, meetings with famous actors and film directors, films presentations, also meetings with the editorial board of the festival, artists' sketch shows, the exhibition of children's paintings, charity works, and the concert in which one can meet Bielorussian celebrities. There will be also organized meetings between children and famous film directors and actors.
During the whole year the festival team is working out a plan of the festival, is finding new films for children and teenagers. As a rule, films are of different genres: tales, adventure films, documentary films, feature films, dramas, so-called problem films and many others. The main purpose is to find a film in which one can put heart and soul.
Our children admire actors and even try to copy the way an actor speaks or behaves. We can say that films help us to educate our children. That's why it's very important for a film to be of high quality. Moreover, it has to be a work of art.
Every year 30 countries take part in the festival. Traditionally there are film contests according to following criteria: full-length feature film, short feature film, short animations. The following juries are going to evaluate films. Among them are juries of feature film, juries of animations and audience. The film who receives the grand prize — the main prize of the festival — is chosen by audience. Our young audience evaluates films according to the ten-point system. As a rule, the winner is who gains more points.
The best films will be awarded with the following prizes:
Prizes given by international juries of feature film are
- the best full-length feature film
- the best short feature film
- the best child-actor
- the best adult-actor
Prizes given by international juries of animations are
- the best animation
- the best animation's actor
- the best graphic award
Additional awards will be given to feature films and animations at the discretion of juries and sponsors.
Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Information are the main festival founders. Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education and foreign embassies has made a contribution in festival foundation, too.
Feature films are to be shown in the Pioner cinema, animations — in the Dom Kino cinema. The opening ceremony and award presentation are to take place in the Dom Kino cinema.
